The development team Centreon is proud to announce the upcoming release of Centreon Enterprise Server 3.0.
More complete than version 2, it will include possibility to select easily, with the installation menu, type of server you want (central, poller or database). They work significantly on the packaging aspect of the solution.
This release is based on CentOS 6 and repositories are compatible with RedHat 6.
CentOS 6 was released in July 2011 and became the new standard. So, our team have to adapt Centreon Enterprise Server (CES) to make it compatible with this new version. Moreover, many community members had requests to do so.
The new menu setup greatly simplifies the choice of server to install. We avoid errors that could occur with the old ISO and which resulted in installing the wrong component on different servers (installation of a central instead of a poller for example).
Then, from its version 3.0, CES will be based, by default, on the Maria DB databases engine. This choice matches with many major distributions that focus on Open Source orientation of MariaDB than MySQL. Moreover, the tests seem to show some very interesting performance in MariaDB from the 10 version (currently in Beta).
CES 3.0 is packaged with the 2.4.5 version of Centreon.
This version is almost finalized and therefore requires functional tests, if possible in production environments. That why we ask motivated people to spend some time testing this version together with our teams.
